The Chef

Ben Atkinson, ever since he can remember has always wanted to be a chef. From a young age Ben helped in his Grandparents restaurant, everything from making breads and pastries, to tending to herbs and wild woodland foraging. From these early experiences Ben instinctively works with fresh, seasonal, local and natural produce. Having travelled and worked extensively throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. He has developed a true passion and enthusiasm for real food, when asked to describe his style of cooking Ben says it is ‘creative, progressive and modern British’.

Ben was drawn to the rural aspects of the Yorkshire Dales, where there is an abundance of wild and local produce. He firmly believes in the nurturing environment it provides to raise a young family, and being involved in country life.

Having joined us in September 2008, he hopes to pioneer his own individual style within the county. The Falcon Manor provides an excellent base to focus his passion and to champion Yorkshire produce. His ambitions and commitment are to place the Falcon Manor Hotel at the heart of this rural community. Ben’s plans include the nurturing and growth of the already established kitchen garden, and will develop this and many other ideas further.
